Every September 27, the world comes together to celebrate the power of tourism in building a more inclusive and sustainable future. This year, with the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” LGU Kitaotao Tourism joined the global movement by celebrating at Sita Elementary School, Sitio Sita, Brgy. Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon.
Activities for Health, Environment, and Community
The day began with an energetic Zumba and Fun Run, setting a lively tone for the celebration. This was followed by a Ceremonial Tree Planting, a symbolic act highlighting the importance of protecting the environment for generations to come.
A Heartwarming Outreach for Children
At the core of the celebration was an Outreach Program dedicated to the children of Sita Elementary School. The kids received new slippers, loot bags with treats, and warm servings of arroz caldo. In turn, the children surprised guests with lively dance performances that brought joy and gratitude to everyone present.
A Special Guest and Community Spirit
The presence of Tatu Ekil made the day even more memorable, as his energy and inspiring personality spread happiness among both the children and participants.
A Celebration Made Possible by Many
The success of this meaningful day was made possible through the unwavering support of Municipal Mayor Hon. Edwin P. Abucayan, Tourism Officer Dr. Cynthia P. Abucayan, the teachers and staff of Sita Elementary School led by Mr. Niño James D. Mericuelo, and the generosity of the SINUDA MIGRANTS AND RESORTS ASSOCIATION (SMARA) and Ma’am Hanilyn Davis.
Moving Forward Together
The celebration of World Tourism Day 2025 in Kitaotao was more than just an event—it was a reminder that tourism is not only about places to see, but about people to uplift, environments to protect, and communities to transform.
